Dennis doubtful for Chelsea clash

Nigerian forward Emmanuel Dennis is a doubtful for Watford’s clash against Chelsea at Vicarage Road on Wednesday (tomorrow), PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

The 24-year-old suffered a knock and was substituted in the Hornets’ 4-2 defeat to Leicester City at King Power Stadium on Sunday.

Dennis was replaced in the 71st minute for Ashley Fletcher.

Speaking ahead of Watford clash against Chelsea, Hornets manager Claudio Ranieri said the Nigerian will be assessed before the Blues’ visit.

“I’m not sure how long Ben will be out for, but (Daniel) Bachmann made some good saves and I am comfortable with him in goal,” Ranieri told the club’s website.

“With Dennis and Masina, I’m not sure at the moment. We’ll check everybody because Dennis came out and Masina didn’t finish well.”

Dennis has scored five goals so far this season for the Hornets and his strike against the Foxes saw him become the sixth player to score five goals and provide five assists in their first 12 matches in Premier League history.

Other players to have achieved the feat are Manchester United legend Eric Cantona (11 games), Chelsea’s Arjen Robben (11 games), Arsenal’s Andrey Arshavin (11 games), Jurgen Klinsmann (12 games) and Bruno Fernandes. (Punch)
