The Lagos State Government said it is seeking private partnership with investors to address the housing deficit in the state.
The state Commissioner for Housing, Mr Moruf Akinderu-Fatai, who stated this during the review of the ministry’s activities in Lagos, said the housing deficit in the urban settlement was huge.
In a statement on Monday, the commissioner called for increased private sector participation in tackling housing deficit.
Akinderu-Fatai said, “The housing deficit in the state is quite huge particularly in the urban areas and private sector participation is essential in changing the present narrative.
“The state government is set to deliver more homes in 2019 through rigorous planning and implementation aimed at completing many of the ongoing housing schemes in record time. More can still be achieved if additional private investors are willing to collaborate with the state government.”
The commissioner said the government had already started implementing policies that would make the environment more conducive to private sector participation and joint ventures investments in the provision of mass houses especially in urban areas where housing deficit was acute.
