The senator representing Adamawa North, Elisha Abbo, has facilitated the rescue of over 200 students of the Federal University, Wukari, following the communal clash between the Tiv and Jukun in Taraba State.
The crisis led to the closure of the institution on Monday.
The rescued students are indigenes of Adamawa State.
One of the students, Juliana Joseph, told our correspondent that she was stranded along with some of her fellow students for days before the rescue.
She said, “It was a welcome relief for over 200 of us from Adamawa State when we learnt that Senator Abbo had arranged for our evacuation.
“We also learnt that the senator had also communicated with the Taraba State Commissioner of Police, Alkasim Sanusi, to provide us with adequate security and also escort us back to Yola.”
Abbo, who met with the students upon their arrival in Yola around 10pm, encouraged them to learn from his personal life story and never give up.
The President of the National Union of Adamawa State Students, Federal University, Wukari, chapter, Abel Abednego, expressed gratitude to the senator on behalf of the beneficiaries.
