MASSOB condemns Catholic priest’s killing

The Movement for the Actualisation the Sovereign State of Biafra on Tuesday condemned the killing of a Catholic priest of Enugu Diocese, Rev Fr Paul Offu, by suspected herdsmen.

Offu was killed along Ihe-Agbudu road in Awgu Local Government Area of the state on Thursday.

A statement by the  National Director of Information of the group, Edeson Samuel, said MASSOB and other pro-Biafra agitators were already to protect the people  in the South-East from attacks.

The group  condemned  the comments attributed  to the Enugu State Commissioner of Police, Suleiman Balarabe, that they had arrested some people in connection with Offu’s  killing.

The statement said, “It is ridiculous and shameful to create this insensitive and wrong impression to divert attention. The killers of Rev Fr Offu are still hiding in the forest while the police went about arresting innocent people.”

It added, “The Commissioner of Police should stop deceiving the people of Enugu State. If truly he is sure of himself that the killers of  Offu have  been arrested, he should be bold enough to parade them.”
