Insecurity: Cleric seeks special pay package for military, police

Blind cleric and General Overseer of the Hour of Mercy Prayer Ministry, Prophet Muyideen Kasali, has advised the Federal Government to prepare special salaries for security outfits for them to have the patriotic zeal to stop insecurity in Nigeria.

Kasali said that in the alternative, special packages should be prepared for the men of military and security outfits, including police, DSS and civil defence directly involved in the fight to stamp out insecurity in the different parts of the country as motivation.

The cleric, who spoke during his yearly revival programme at Odo Owa Ekiti on Thursday said, “Adequate compensations should be given to security men who are fighting at the warfronts if the Federal Government cannot come up with special salary package for the security formations which Nigerians believe is the best option.”

Kasali called on the Federal Government and South-west governors not to take the alarm raised by Afenifere that the region was under the siege of Fulani herdsmen with kid gloves.

He urged them to begin an aggressive mobilisation of all groups, including traditional rulers and security groups like the Oodua Peoples Congress and vigilante groups to be on the alert and ward off imminent breakdown of law and order in the region.

The cleric said: “The highway robbery in the South-West, particularly along Aramoko- Efon – Iwaraja up to Osun State should be stopped. Lagos-Ibadan axis too is not safe, so the Federal Government must do something about it.

“Wherever you go in the South-West, the fear now has been that people are no longer safe because of suspected herdsmen, who are daily killing the people or abduct them.”
