Ondo to name OSUSTECH after ex-gov Agagu

The Ondo State Government has said it will immortalise a former Governor of the state,  Dr Olusegun Agagu, by naming the state-owned Ondo State University of Science and Technology, Okitipupa, after him.

Governor Mr Rotimi Akeredolu disclosed this during a visit to the Okitipupa Local Government Area of the state on Tuesday.

The governor, while addressing the traditional rulers, chiefs and party members in the local council, said his administration would make determined efforts to name the institution after the late Agagu.

Akeredolu asked the people to appeal to the newly elected members of the state House of Assembly to hasten the legislative processes necessary for the change of name of the university, which was established in 2008 by the Agagu administration.

“On assumption of office, I was not pleased with the way the university was abandoned,” Akeredolu noted.

Earlier on Tuesday, while addressing the people and monarchs of Ile-Oluji and Oke-Igbo communities in the Ile-Oluji/Oke-Igbo Local Government Area of the state, Akeredolu said his administration would continue with the good work it started in the local government area.

He urged the people of the area to put forward a memorandum for the creation of a new local council development authority, which, he said, would fast-track development.
