Queiroz ready for knock-out stage

Carlos Queiroz

Egypt head coach Carlos Queiroz reassured the fans ahead of Sudan clash in AFCON, claiming that he’s ready for the knock-out stage.

The Pharaohs had a rough start to their 2021 Africa Cup of Nations journey, losing to Nigeria 1-0.

However, Queiroz’s men returned to winning ways as they have beaten Guinea-Bissau 1-0 in the Group stage second round fixture.

Despite winning their second game, Some fans remain sceptical of the national team’s performance, believing that there is more to expect from the players and the manager.

The next test for Egypt will be against Sudan, with the two neighbouring nations clashing tomorrow, on the 19th of January.

A victory or a draw would directly put Egypt in a Round of 16 spot, but it won’t be an easy task, especially as Sudan will be aiming for a win since it’s their last qualification chance.

Speaking ahead of the match, Queiroz said, “We respect every participating team, and we do our best to prepare for every game.

“We don’t have any COVID-19 infections, which is great.

“We are prepared to put on a great show against Sudan, and I am happy with my players’ performances.” (Punch)
