Osimhen has third-best goal-to-game ratio for Eagles

…hits double figures for Nigeria

Victor Osimhen has the third-best goal-to-game ratio among players who have scored for the Super Eagles, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

Osimhen scored the only goal in the Eagles’ 1-1 draw against Cape Verde in their final group game of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers played at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos on Tuesday.

The goal took Osimhen’s tally for the national team to double figures (10).

This sees him rise to No. 16 on top of Nigeria’s top scorers’ log, level with Osaze Odemwingie and Victor Moses.

The 22-year-old’s goal to game ratio stands at 0.52 after hitting the net 10 times in 19 games for Nigeria.

This is only bettered by late Eagles legend, Rashidi Yekini with a 0.63 goal to game ratio and Sunday Oyarekhua with a goal to game ratio of 0.60.

Segun Odegbami has a goal-to-game ratio of 0.50, while Julius Aghahowa in fifth position has a goal-to-game ratio of 0.43.

Yekini also tops Nigeria’s all-time scorers’ chart with 37 goals from 58 appearances for the Eagles in 14 years, ahead of Odegbami
in second with 23 goals scored in 46 games.

Yakubu Aiyegbeni is third with 21 goals from 57 games for Nigeria, while Ikechukwu Uche is fourth with 19 goals from 46 Eagles games ahead of Obafemi Martins with 18 goals from 48 games in the fifth position.

Oyarekhua (17 goals), Samson Siasa (17 goals), Odion Ighalo (16 goals), Ahmed Musa (16 goals) and Aghahowa (14 goals) complete the top 10.

Osimhen still has Austin Okocha (14 goals), Daniel Amokachi (13 goals), Obinna Nsofor (12 goals), Mudashiru Lawal (12 goals), and Nwankwo Kanu (12 goals) ahead of him on the Eagles top scorers’ log. (Punch)
