Fans berate Eagles for boring football against Liberia

NIGERIAN fans have slammed the Super Eagles claiming they posted a boring performance in their 2-0 win over Liberia in the 2022 World Cup qualifier at the Grand Stade de Tangier in Morocco on Saturday.

Victor Osimhen and captain Ahmed Musa scored from the penalty spot to hand the Eagles a comfortable win and maximum points as they continued their push for a playoff phase of the World Cup qualifiers.

Despite the victory, fans who watched the match believed that the Eagles were boring to watch and singled out head coach, Gernot Rohr, for his poor tactics.

“I am happy Finidi is now the coach of Eyinmba, hopefully, if he can lead them well, he might coach us later. Personally, I don’t think Rohr is good. The Eagles are so boring to watch and they narrowly win games because of individual qualities not manager’s tactics,” @johndotmak tweeted.

“The Super Eagles so far isn’t playing anything fantastic. No tenacity, no beauty, just pass, run and hopefully hit the ball in the net. Football left this stage over 100 years ago, and the Eagles are still there,” Arua Ifechukwude tweeted.

@on_bami lamented, “Rohr tactics is worse and boring. I hardly watch Nigeria games because of that. He makes late and stupid substitutions. I mean this squad should be playing beautiful football.”

“I had to turn off my data after 29 minutes. Waste of time, money and energy. I still hope we qualify for World Cup,” Morphy Amin wrote.

Others also compared Rohr to Manchester United coach, Ole Gunnar Solskjær.

Praise Fowowe tweeted, “To watch United under Ole and Super Eagles under Rohr feels like a curse. You can’t see any effect of coaching or planning. I hope NFF realise any coach after this man is starting afresh. I am not even confident we can win this last match because TBS feels like we are playing away.” (Punch)
