A Peoples Democratic Party aspirant for the position of National Women Leader, Prof. Stella Effah-Attoe, has declared that the role of women in politics should go beyond singing, clapping and voting during elections.

She said this shortly after submitting her expression of interest and nomination forms at the PDP National Secretariat, in Abuja, on Tuesday.

The academic turned politician explained that women have a lot more to give the nation in terms of quality service instead of figurative appointments.

According to her, after several years of theorizing, she decided to “also come to practicalise it and really get involved in getting women seriously involved in political participation.”

Effah-Attoe, further said, “If you look at Nigerian political history for over the years, most women have been involved in clapping and dancing, but we are saying, we will want our women to come out and participate effectively in politics, not just by voting, but by actual involvement.”(Punch)
