Saka handed Arsenal No.7 jersey

Bukayo Saka has been handed Arsenal’s No. 7 jersey for the 2020/21 season, the club announced on their Twitter page on Wednesday, while unveiling the home kits for next season.

“Our homegrown talent. The Arsenal’s No 7 from 2020/21. Keep making us proud, Bukayo,” Arsenal wrote on Twitter.

The versatile player also shared a video on his Twitter handle with a caption “new chapter..7” to confirm his new jersey number.

Saka, who previously wore the No. 77, takes over the jersey number dropped by Armenian midfielder, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who is on loan at Serie A side Roma.

The jersey was also previously worn by Tomas Rosicky, Robert Pires, Liam Brady and David Rocastle.

The 18-year-old, who is eligible to play for both Nigeria and England at international level, recently signed a long-term contract extension with the Gunners.

He has impressed for Arsenal this season, playing regularly under former manager Unai Emery and Mikel Arteta as a left-back and left wing-back.

He has featured 39 times for the Gunners this season, scoring four goals and providing 11 assists.
