Buhari, Tambuwal, ACF mourn as pioneer secretary Abdulkadir, dies

The remains of the immediate-past North-West Vice Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Alhaji Inuwa Abdulkadir, were on Monday interred at his residence in the Gawon Noma area of Sokoto State.

Abdulkadir died in the early hours of Monday at the Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto. He was aged 55.

The burial rites were led by the Grand Khadi of Sokoto, Alhaji Mohammed Usman, with a handful dignitaries, including the Sokoto State Deputy Governor, Manir Dan’Iya, in attendance.

Abdulkadir, a former Commissioner for Justice, former Minister of Youth Development and a member of the recently dissolved National Working Committee of the APC, was the Pro-Chancellor of the Sokoto State University until his death.

The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), expressed grief over Abdulkadir’s demise.

A statement by the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, quoted Buhari as saying Abdulkadir would be missed for his humility, maturity and penchant for facilitating reconciliation among APC members.

“President Buhari prays that the almighty God will receive the soul of the departed, and comfort his family,” the statement read.

In a condolence message he personally signed, Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State described the deceased as “an unassuming, compassionate and reliable political ally and a colleague at the Bar.”

“He never wavered in his commitment to the welfare and development of the people of Sokoto State in particular and Nigeria in general,” Tambuwal said.

Similarly, the Arewa Consultative Forum in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Emmanuel Yawe, in Kaduna on Monday, described Abdulkadir as a perfect gentleman and a knowledgeable fellow with unprecedented humility.

Also, the national leader of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, in a statement by his media aide, Tunde Rahman, said he was saddened by the news of Abdulkadir’s death.

“He was a friend and associate who contributed to the political merger that led to the creation of the APC and the progress and development of the party. He was also a grass-roots politician,” Tinubu said.
