64 almajirai recover from COVID-19 in Niger

No fewer than 64 almajiris, who tested positive for COVID-19 in Niger State have recovered fully and reunited with their families.

The State Commissioner for Health and Hospital Services, Dr. Mohamned Makusidi, made this known in Minna on Wednesday while answering questions from newsmen

Makusidi said, “As we have said earlier, it has so far got 166 positive COVID-19 cases, including almajirai. At least, 1,075 almajirai were tested, out of which 64 returned positive. However, the good news is that they have all recovered and are now reunited with their families.”

He said that those of them, who were not indigenes of the state had been repatriated to their various states of origin.

Makusidi said that 1,778 people had so far been tested in the state, out of which 166 are COVID-19 positive, adding, “As of today, we do not have any patient in our isolation centres because we have discharged most of them, while few others have been transferred out for more medical attention.”

He said the state would soon overcome the challenge of testing with the completion of the multi-purpose testing laboratory being built in Minna.

The commissioner appealed to people to always report all deaths so that the dead would be subjected to COVID-19 test for the safety of family members and the public in general.
