Buses conveying Zamfara, Kaduna miners intercepted in Osun

Two 18-passenger buses conveying miners to Ifewara, a town in the Atakumosa East Central Local Council Development Area of Osun State were on Thursday intercepted along Ilesha-Akure Expressway.

The chairman of the LCDA, Busuyi Makanjuola, said, “The two buses carried youths, who are miners from Zamfara and Kaduna states. They were going to Ifewara, a town in my LCDA. The buses had successfully entered the state before we intercepted them along Ilesha-Akure Expressway and asked them to go back.

“The occupants of each of the vehicles should be more than 18 because they were fully packed. We didn’t allow them in.”

Speaking further on the development, the chairman, Ilesha North East Local Council Development Authority,  Imo, Ilesha, Oladipo Adeniyi, told The PUNCH that the buses were caught following a tip-off.

He said, “We got a tip-off and we handled the matter with the help of the security agents. The chairmen of Atakumosa East, Ilesha North East,  Atakumosa West Central,  and Atakumosa East Central were all there.

“We will not allow passengers from the North or anywhere without authority to enter the state for now.”
