LCCI donates rice, others to LASG

In order to cushion the effects of coronavirus lockdown on residents, the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry says it has made donation of food items and medical gadgets to the Lagos State Government.

The donation, a statement from the LCCI indicated, comprised bags of rice, cartons of noodles and cartons of alcohol-based hand sanitisers among others.

The President of the chamber, Mrs Toki Mabogunje, said the gesture was part of its support to the state government in mitigating the challenges of the coronavirus pandemic and alleviating the economic hardship of the under-privileged in the state.

She said the donation was received on behalf of the governor, Mr Babajide Sanwoolu, by his Deputy Chief of Staff, Mr Gboyega Soyanwo, and Commissioner for Transportation, Dr Frederick Oladeinde.

She noted that it was no longer news that the pandemic had disrupted and was still disrupting business and economic activities across sectors.

Mabogunje commended the combined efforts of the federal and state governments, especially the Lagos State Ministry of Health, Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and the Federal Ministry of Health for being frontliners in the war against the pandemic.

She said that the business community would continue to support the government at all levels to subdue the ravaging pandemic.
