Atiku seeks rescue of Leah Sharibu

The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party  for the  February 23  presidential election, Atiku Abubakar, has called  for the release of Leah Sharibu, abducted by Boko Haram.

He urged the founder of the #FreeLeahSharibu campaign,  Reno Omokri, to intensify his campaign for Sharibu’s release.

The former vice president, in a statement by his media aide on Saturday congratulated Omokri as he is set to receive  the  Humanitarian Cause of the Year award  at the 2019 Hollywood Weekly Magazine Film Festival in Hollywood, California, on November 2.

Atiku said, “My family and I rejoice with you on this auspicious occasion and pray God to grant you the strength and wisdom to continue doing good.

“I hope you see this award as a reason to intensify your campaign for Leah’s release.”

Omokri, according to the statement, has visited 35 countries  this year  to appeal to world leaders and celebrities for the release of  Sharibu.

The statement added that Omokri also went to Mount Everest in Nepal to draw world attention to Sharibu’s cause.
