Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State on Friday reversed the promotion of all the new permanent secretaries in the state civil service.

The immediate past governor, Abiola Ajimobi promoted eight civil servants to the office of permanent secretary in the twilight of his eight-year administration.

Makinde had warned his predecessor to be circumspect in making new appointments and awards of contracts in the state ahead of his exit from office.

Announcing the reversal at a meeting he had with all permanent secretaries in the state, the governor said such promotion was carried out in bad faith.

His media aide, Mr. Dotun Oyelade said, “Governor Makinde will be very consistent and finicky with all his campaign promises and this is not an exception.

“The governor said that all transactions either contractually or in terms of appointments and promotions that were done especially between Monday, March 11 and May 28 would be given closer scrutiny particularly because of the obvious mischief that has been introduced into the whole governance within this period.”

Meanwhile, Following the spate of violence across Ibadan, the Oyo State capital in recent times, Makinde has proscribed the activities of the National Union of Road Transport Workers in the state.

The government,t who declared the activities of the Union illegal with immediate effect, also announced the taking over of all parks and garages in the state.
