Boko Haram kills 26, razes houses in Adamawa attack

Suspected Boko Haram  fighters on Monday evening attacked Kuda Kaya community in Madagali,  Adamawa State, killing 26 persons and razing  houses.

The attack, according to one of the community leaders, has sparked fear in the area.

The community had  been attacked  by Boko Haram in the past.

District Head of Shuwa, Mohammed Sanusi,  who  confirmed the Kuda Kaya community attack, lamented the killing by the insurgents.

He said,  “Twenty-four people were  initially killed. But two more bodies were recovered later.

“The insurgents arrived in  the town at about  5.30pm and  began to shoot people.

“There’s no person with gunshot wounds who survived.”

He said   the insurgents also killed  many cows, sheep and goats.

According to him, soldiers  and vigilantes  came  around 7pm and chased  them  away.

Sanusi  said  villages around Gulak town in Madagali  were also attacked by  the insurgents who operated for hours.

Spokesman for the police in the state, Othman

Abubakar,   on Tuesday confirmed the Kuda Kaya community attack.

But he  could not confirm the casualty figure, saying  the divisional police officer  in Madagali had yet to brief him on  the attack.
