Akeredolu to create LCDAs in Ondo

The Ondo State Government on Monday said it was ready to create Local Council Development Authority areas in the state in order to move the government closer to the people at the rural areas.

To this end, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu has asked the communities in the 18 Local Government Areas of the state to submit memoranda for the creation of the LCDAs.

The governor, who spoke at Ode Irele, the headquarters of Irele Local Government Area, during a visit to the council area, explained that the LCDAs, after creation, would fast-track development in rural areas.

Akeredolu said he would soon set up a committee for the creation of the LCDAs, saying the committee would receive the memoranda submitted by the communities seeking local governments or LCDA in the state.

While expressing appreciation to the people of Irele LGA for their support for the All Progressives Congress in the last House of Assembly election, the governor urged them to continue to support the government so that more projects could be executed in the town.

Earlier in his remarks, the Chairman, Caretaker Committee of the lrele LGA, Mr Odimayo Gbadebo, expressed concern over the kingship crisis in the town.
