The Lagos State 2019 budget totalling N852.317bn has passed the second reading on the floor of the state House of Assembly.
The lawmaker representing Eti-Osa Constituency II, Gbolahan Yishawu, stated that the budget was an all-encompassing one when compared to the 2018 budget in terms of revenue generation.
He added that the budget focused on areas such as security, health, education as well as infrastructural development.
Yishawu said, “This is a very realistic budget. The budget has equally made provision for the new minimum wage which makes it beneficial to everyone.”
In his contribution, the lawmaker representing Somolu Constituency I, Rotimi Olowo, however, said there was the need for the Committee on Economic Planning and Budget to do more work and suggest what could be done differently to increase revenue generation.
The Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa, thereafter, committed the budget to the Committee on Economic Planning and Budget with a mandate to report back in six weeks; in spite of the ongoing campaign across the state.
The House thereafter adjourned to April 4, 2019.
