The Buhari Youth Campaign Organisation, Ogun State chapter, has said that the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, will not get 15% votes in the February 16 presidential election in the state.
The organisation’s state coordinator, Olusegun Clement, stated this on Sunday during a press conference held at the state secretariat of the All Progressives Congress, in Abeokuta .
Clement promised to deliver two million votes for the APC presidential candidate, Muhammadu Buhari, during the election.
He said Buhari deserved to be re-elected for many reasons which he said included his fight against corruption; improvement in power supply and development of infrastructure, among others.
He said, “Buhari is our man and we will continue to support him. Our people know what is good for them and come February 16, President Buhari will be victorious in the state.
“We have more than 2,500 youths as a mechanism we are using to campaign for President Muhammadu Buhari’s re-election across the 20 local government areas in the state.
“Buhari has been a youth-friendly President and has established different programmes to assist and develop the youth across the country.”
While speaking on why Atiku may not defeat Buhari in the state, the state coordinator listed some issues such as threat to corruption among others which he said would work against the PDP presidential candidate.
He added, “Before this government came on board, corruption has eaten deep into our dear country to the extent that it is now fighting back which is not healthy for the growth of our dear country.
“On power supply, the country was generating less than 3,000MW before 2015, but since President Muhammadu Buhari emerged in 2015, we have started to generate over 7,000MW.
“Atiku coming back now is just to boost his business and enrich himself rather than fixing the power issue in the country.”
Clement warned the people of the state not to put the country in the hands of those that he claimed would sell it to the highest bidder.
“For us in Ogun State, we are not perturbed because Atiku cannot have 15 per cent votes in this state.”
