Opposition parties fault Lai Mohammed over fulfilled promises claim

Opposition political parties have faulted a claim attributed to the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, that the government of the All Progressives Congress has fulfilled all the promises it made to Nigerians.

Mohammed had while speaking with State House correspondents on Friday argued that the government had met all its obligations to Nigerians.

But opposition parties under the aegis of the Coalition of United Political Parties described the claim as laughable.

The coalition’s first national spokesman, Imo Ugochinyere, said this in an interview with our correspondent.

Ugochinyere said the minister, with his claim, still thought he was still in the opposition where he was deploying lies and propaganda to win elections.

He said the Federal Government had not delivered on any of its three main promises to Nigerians.

He said the government had failed to secure the country, improve economy and fight corruption.

“Buhari made three promises to Nigerians. One was security. If after three years of him being in office, soldiers could be raided in their base and massacred, will you say he has met our expectations in terms of security?

“The second promise was on economy. As we speak now, rate of joblessness is increasing.

“He also promised to fight corruption. But key members of his government have been accused of corruption and they are dining with the President. So which expectation has he met?”
