Ekiti CNPP faults Afenifere’s endorsement of Atiku

Conference of Nigerian Political Parties in Ekiti State on Wednesday described the recent endorsement of the Peoples Democratic Party’s presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Ababakar, by Afenifere as a betrayal of the South West people.

CNPP’s acting state Chairman, Olu Akomolafe, in a statement made available to journalists said the failure of the Chief Reuben Fasoranti-led faction of Afenifere to consult people of the region before such a decision showed that it was on its own.

Akomolafe said the people of the region would resist any attempt by any group or individual to trade with their collective destiny.

The statement read, “We won’t allow these leaders to sell Yoruba and rubbish the good name of the race because of politics.

“Yoruba nationals will not subject themselves to any evil force out to tarnish the image of the race and put it to disrepute.

“The dividends of democracy being enjoyed under the President Muhammadu Buhari-led progressive government should be encouraged. All what the Yoruba have gained under the Buhari government has never happened in Nigeria’s history.

“The vice president slot which Yoruba is enjoying shall be guarded jealously, except if any presidential candidate can provide a better position than this.
