Lagos trade fair faces space constraint at TBS

The Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos is becoming too small as venue for the annual Lagos International Trade Fair, the Chairman, Trade Promotion Board, Mr Gabriel Idahosa, has said.

He said this was very glaring when the organisers opened an online registration portal and within two weeks, more than 2,500 subscribers had bought up the available spaces.

Idahosa said an adjustment would have to be made against next edition of the fair in terms of space.

He said, “We already feel the space constraint. We ordered two additional tents which have been laid out and all of them are booked already. So, we are really running out of space. The other option we are looking at is additional space in this vicinity or moving the entire fair to a much larger space.

“We are making a lot of enquiries. We are talking to the Federal Government about the old site on Badagry Expressway; but we were looking at actually consolidating the discussions when the road has been done. We are not looking at moving in there immediately.

“But we definitely have space constraint. The online booking has shown that we can easily run out of all the spaces we can find. We have had to create additional spaces within the premises; remove the equipment and materials and combine the exhibition spaces.”

Idahosa also said, “We are preparing next year to address that issue, for partial relocation somewhere else or wholesale relocation to a bigger space.”

The LITF opened today and the closing ceremony is slated for Sunday.
