Amosun presents N402.63bn budget


The Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, on Wednesday, presented a budget estimate of N402.63bn as the 2019 Appropriation Bill to the state House of Assembly.



The 2019 appropriation bill represents 17 per cent increase compared to this year’s budget of N345.4bn.



Amosun, who gave a breakdown of the estimate, christened, ‘Budget of Enduring Legacy,’ explained that N254.005bn would go for capital expenditure, representing 63.1 per cent.



The state would spend N88.57bn on the affordable qualitative education, representing 22 per cent of the budget.



The governor allocated N22.54bn to the health sector, while N20.13bn was earmarked for various agricultural production/industrialisation programmes.



He said personnel cost which consisted of pension and gratuities would take N22.20bn in the proposed bill.



In his remarks, the Speaker of the house, Suraju Adekunbi, stated that the 8th legislature would give the bill a speedy passage.
