Breach of Contract: Vono, manufacturer of Vitafoam in 3million scandal

By Our Correspondent

Vono Furniture Product Limited, the manufacturer of Vitafoam has landed itself in N3,050,000 breach of contract scandal.

According to a document obtained by our correspondent, Petrocam Trading Nigeria Limited delivered 10, 000 litres of AGO otherwise known as diesel to Vono Furniture Product Limited raw materials store at Unity Estate Tarmac Road, Adalemo Bus-Stop, Sango Ogun state as directed by Vono.

Vono affirmed and signed for the delivery of the product by Petrocam on January 31st 2017.

Despite the delivery by Petrocam, Vono has neglected and refused to pay Petrocam the sum of N2,550,000 despite repeated oral and written demands for the payment.

It was however gathered that Petrocam wrote letters of demand dated 27th March 2017, 18th May 2017 and 12th June 2017 and also wrote a letter of demand through her solicitors dated 8th September 2017 contrary to the terms of the contract which supply was due for payment on the 1st March 2017, which is one month after the delivery.

It was gathered that the breach of contract by Vono caused Petrocam to incur damages in the sum of N500,000 both for loss of income and bank default on borrowed funds from Petrocam's bankers.

The reason why Vono intentionally decided not to pay the money is not known

The ability of BrandInfo to get the view of the General Manager of Vono, Mr. John Bishop on the scandal was abortive as he failed to respond to the text message sent to him by our correspondent as at the time of filling this report.
