In fulfilment of its pledge to make the results of its
examinations available within 60 days of their conduct, the West African
Examinations Council (WAEC) has promised to release the results of its 2017
May/June West African Senior School Certificate Examination latest on July 19.
In a statement issued by the examination body and signed by
the Head of its Public Affairs Unit, Mr. Demianus Ojijeogu, WAEC stated that
subsequently the results of all its exams would be ready within 45 days. The
new development, the body stated, was the outcome of its innovation tagged
#Project60, which it noted was launched in March.
The statement read in part: “The project was an innovation
designed by the management of the Council in Nigeria to reduce the waiting
period for the release of results of candidates from 90days to 60days after the
conduct of the examination for this diet, and to 45 days in subsequent WASSCE
diets.
“Project 60’ was a huge success in its maiden edition with
the conduct, marking, processing and release of the results of the WASSCE for
school candidates, 2017 because all hands were on deck to ensure the
achievement of this great feat. “We also wish to inform our stakeholders and
the nation at large that the waiting period for the release of the results of
the WASSCE for School Candidates, 2017 is over as the results will be released
on or before Wednesday, July 19, 2017.”
