LASPOTECH Third Gate |
Following the on-going strike by Academic Staff Union of
Polytechnic (ASUP), Lagos State Polytechnic chapter, the school management has
declared one week recess starting from today and as a result of that locked all
the three gates that leads into the school.
Our correspondent who was at the first gate of the school
this morning witnessed the locking of the gate and also gathered that the
second and third gates were also locked. Handful of people who are majorly students
were at the school surroundings.
In a release obtained by our correspondent, the school
management stated that during this recess, no person will be allowed into any
of the campuses of the polytechnic, adding that Staff and students are
therefore advised to stay away at least 200 meters radius to any of the
Polytechnic campus.
‘’It has come to the notice of the Management the effrontery
of the General Secretary of ASUP giving directive to the entire staff and
students of the Polytechnic to stay away from the Polytechnic as the Unions
plan a complete breakdown of law and order in the Polytechnic until their
demands are met. The Management frowns at this illegal directive and urge
members of staff and students to always ignore such directive’’
‘’On the issue of strike, the Management had already
briefed the polytechnic community on the outcome of the last tripartite meeting
at Alausa. Another tripartite meeting has been scheduled for Tuesday 2/5/10 by
the state government. Representatives of the Governing Council are also
attending. In view of this development, the Management has declared one week
recess starting from Tuesday May 2 2017 to enable the state government conclude
deliberations on Contiss 15 migration issue and come up with its definite
position on the issue,’’ it stated.
