DDB Lagos boss Ikechi Odigbo hits another milestone


One of Nigeria’s most experienced admen and Managing Director of DDB Lagos Mr. Ikechi Odigbo has recently clocked 50.

This represents a major milestone in the life of the vastly accomplished advertising executive who has led DDB Lagos for years and rallied them to win deluge of local and foreign awards thereby cementing the agency’s place as one of the most outstanding advertising shops in Nigeria.

Odigbo, a 1986 graduate of Political Science, University of Calabar and 2007 General Management Alumnus of Harvard Business School began his advertising career over 20 years ago as a Copywriter.
Showing immense versatility, Odigbo has successfully combined Creative and Account Management functions working in a Professional and Executive capacity for such leading brands as Glo Mobile, Carnco Foods, McVities, LG Electronics, Pfizer, MTN, Diamond Bank, Mercedes Benz, WWF, Sony and Mimee Noodles.

In 2003, Odigbo was appointed Executive Creative Director, DDB Lagos. In his capacity he was responsible for the creative product with key objective of entrenching DDB as one of the top three creative agencies in Nigeria. He achieved this goal and led the agency on a parade of impressive awards.

Following his elevation to Chief Operating Officer in 2007, Odigbo was the main driver of a new business model that would help reposition DDB from just an Ad Agency to a strategic brand partner. He currently heads the Agency with a mandate to transform DDB into the best and biggest builder of brands in Nigeria. He also seats on the board of the Casers Group and he is also Chairman of Lagos Advertisers Ideas Festival (LAIF).

Since he was appointed as CEO in 2010 DDB Lagos has grown impressively and currently serves as the regional hub for West and central Africa. His core management strength are in organizational strategy, and building high performance teams. He is also an executive member of the Advertising Standards Panel.

Odigbo’s passion points are building enduring kingdom culture beyond church, youth development as well as soccer, scrabble, reading, comedy and travelling. One of his core management philosophies is “Manage your team like they are the client and see them serve the client like they own the business.”
