No more room for quackery in our midst — NIPR

Those who practise public relations in Nigeria without due certification from the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), may be in for a tough time as from March 31st next year, as the institute, again, reiterated its resolve to reform the sector by getting rid of quacks in the practice.

Speaking in Lagos at the institute’s Presidential Dinner and Awards held recently, its president, Dr Rotimi Oladele explained that such reforms had become imperative so as to enhance the practice in country and make it globally competitive.

While calling on those who still practise public relations without registering with the institute to quickly regularize their status with the institute, Dr Oladele explained that the decision to organise the dinner and awards event was informed by the need to recognize and celebrate corporate organisations that have contributed positively to the development of the practice and the nation’s economy in general in the past few years.

The NIPR boss charged Nigerians to always emphasise the positives in the country and pay less attention to the challenges, noting that such challenges are actually needed to propel it greater heights.

‘‘We should not be daunted by these challenges, because despite all these, foreigners come in to make quite a fortune. Until we realize that such challenges are needed in any society to propel it to greater heights, we will not move forward as a nation,’’ he added. The five awardees at the event include, the Nigerian Customs Service, Nasco Foods, Federal Aviation Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) and Brooks and Blakes.
