The All Progressives Congress won the presidential election in the Gindim Durumi polling unit of Bauchi State Governor Mohammed Abubakar in Bauchi on Saturday.
The APC presidential candidate Muhammadu Buhari polled 628 against PDP’s Atiku Abubakar 93.
The governor is seeking a second term under the banner of the APC.
A total of 767 voters were accredited in the unit of 1,491 registered voters.
However, the People’s Redemption Party pulled off the biggest surprise of the House of Representatives poll by scoring 467 votes against APC’s 287. The PDP came third with 171 votes.
In the senatorial poll, the APC scored 287, PDP 191 and PRP 241.
However, the card readers failed to function in some of the polling units in the state, forcing electoral officials to resort to manual accreditation.
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, expressed his satisfaction with the conduct of the elections despite the card reader failed to recognise his fingerprint during accreditation.
But Dogara finally cast his vote at 9.45am at the Gwaranga Primary School polling unit in Bogoro Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
“I think it’s fairly ok, judging by what I have seen here,” the lawmaker told reporters.
“It’s a bit smooth, but in a sense, you know I had a problem with the card reader, it couldn’t automatically authenticate me.
“I had to cast my vote on the voter register. So, that is one of the flaws I have noted, even though the process of authentication was repeated twice, but somehow, the card reader couldn’t accept my fingerprint.”
Dogara, who represents Dass/Tafawa Balewa/Bogoro Federal Constituency, is a candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party.
He said he was impressed with the massive turnout at his polling unit.
