Hoodlums planning to disrupt Atiku’s campaign rally in Plateau – PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party in Plateau State has raised the alarm over the alleged plans by “hoodlums” to disrupt the campaign of its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, in the state.

The campaign team of the former Vice-President is expected to arrive in the state on Saturday.

The PDP  in a statement on Friday alleged that the state chairman of the party, Damishi Sango, “received credible information that sponsored groups are preparing to harass, intimidate and attack PDP officials, members and stakeholders attending the rally”.

It appealed to security agencies to stop hoodlums from attacking members of the party during the rally.

The PDP added that it  would not tolerate hoodlums trying to replicate what happened when the party’s event in Mangu town on January 8, 2019 was violently interrupted by hoodlums.

The party, however, assured the people of Plateau State that it would continue to pursue the path of peace and decency and focus on issue-based campaign.

The statement read in part, “The party will not allow political provocations to derail its commitment to the people of Plateau, who are increasingly getting frustrated by a ruling party  ( the All Progressives Congress) that is daily resorting to thuggery to prove its incompetence and shallowness while allowing the good people to face endless suffering.”
