‘Pay N125,000, get C-of-O’

The Home Owners Charter Certificate of Occupancy has been pegged at N125,000 in Oyo State.

Governor Abiola Ajimobi stated this on Monday in Ibadan during the official presentation of the Cs-of-O to some beneficiaries at the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Survey.

He said, “Members of the public have been avoiding the perfection of their land documents, claiming that the cost was too exorbitant; but since the present administration introduced the Home Owners Charter, the situation has changed.”

Ajimobi said 521 Certificates of Occupancy had been approved for collection under the charter programme.

He urged the people of the state to take advantage of the Home Owners Charter of the state government to perfect titles and approval for their landed property, saying that the scheme would assist owners to secure their property.

The governor said the collection of tenement rate in all local government areas of the state had been declared illegal since November 12, 2012, and had been replaced by the state Land Use Charge.
