Ogun gives N72m grant to CDAs


The Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, has presented a cheque of N72m to about 349 Community Development Associations in the state, as grants-in-aid to support their self-help projects.



According to a statement made available to our correspondent, the state government said while presenting the cheque at the World Community Day Celebration, in Abeokuta, Amosun said the role of CDAs to the development of the state could not be over- emphasised.



The governor, who commended the past and present chairmen of the Community Development Committees, noted that more developmental projects such as boreholes, schools, filling stations and hospitals among others, were being initiated and executed by CDAs across the states.



“The capacity building initiative of the CDAs towards having good community leadership in our communities has also helped in maintaining the peaceful atmosphere that is prevalent in our dear state,” he said.



The wife of governor, Mrs Olufunso Amosun, also commended the CDAs for their support to the present administration.



 The Commissioner for Community Development and Cooperatives, Gbenga Adenmosun, said about 349 CDAs would benefit from the grants-in-aid while subventions would go to all the 220 Area Community Development Committees.
