Pensioners urge EFCC to invite Aregbesola over LG funds

Pensioners in Odin State on Wednesday urged the  Economic and Financial Crimes Commission  to invite Governor  Rauf Aregbesola  over a petition submitted to the EFCC by a group called Civil Societies Coalition for the Emancipation of Osun State against him.

Addressing newsmen on behalf of the group in Osogbo, the Chairman, Forum of 2011/2012 Retired Public Servants of Osun State, Comrade Omoniyi Ilesanmi, said they  submitted the petition at the Ibadan Zonal office of the anti-graft agency  in 2016.

According to him, Aregbesola should be invited by the  commission as soon as he leaves  office.

Ilesanmi explained that the petition contained details of how funds belonging to the 30 local government areas and Modakeke Area Council were allegedly misappropriated. He said   the EFCC, after receiving the petition, invited some  government officials.

He added that outgoing Aregbesola administration   was  owing  retirees and   workers for 17 months.

He said, “As of  the time of this press conference, despite Aregbesola’s constant promise that he will not owe anybody by the time he leaves office, today he is  owing  pensioners and workers  for 17 months.”
