The All Progressives Congress has urged its aggrieved members to take advantage of the Peace and Reconciliation Committees it raised to settle grievances arising from the recently concluded primaries.
The appeal came following reports that some aggrieved members were bent on prosecuting cases they had instituted against the party in courts.
The National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, had on Wednesday inaugurated six committees to address the post-primaries crises in the party.
The six committees raised for each of the six geopolitical zones are to address disputes arising from primaries in states in their respective zone.
Governors Rochas Okorocha, Ibikunle Amosun and Abdul-Aziz Yari of Imo, Ogun and Zamfara states, respectively are at loggerheads with the national chairman for not recognising their preferred governorship candidates.
But Oshiomhole at the event said the National Working Committee under him did its best to enforce the rules of the party in order to achieve free, fair and transparent primaries.
Speaking with our correspondent in Abuja, the APC National Publicity Secretary, Lanre Issa-Onilu, said the party had the interest of all the members at heart for raising the committees.
He said, “We will continue to appeal to our members to take advantage of the committees and explore internal mechanism of conflict resolution.
“It is in our collective interest to ensure we promote the ideals of the party and embrace peace.”
Issa-Onilu said the appeal was not directed at any aggrieved member in particular but to all members of the party.
Recall that the National Working Committee of the party had warned members to withdraw court cases filed against the party or face sanctions.
The party said it viewed the actions of the party members as a manifest indiscipline and an anti-party for not exhausting the internal mechanism of the party.
