Nigeria still lacking right leadership, say SDP, LP

The Social Democratic Party and the Labour Party have said Nigeria still does not have the leadership that can govern the country with equity, fairness and justice, noting that the government needed to put the sectors of the economy on the right tracks.

The political parties, in separate releases on the independence anniversary on Monday, said Nigeria was plagued with several challenges and would overcome if the right people were in power.

The SDP National Publicity Secretary, Mr Alfa Mohammed, said, “We are optimistic that Nigeria will overcome its numerous challenges.

However, this can only come through if the right people are in power. We, therefore, appeal to all citizens to be determined to take the destiny of Nigeria into their hands by ensuring that only men and women of integrity, who can move the country from its present comatose state, emerge as leaders in the coming 2019 general elections.

“Nigeria can only get it right when we institute a leadership that can govern the country with equity, fairness and justice.”

Also, the LP said Nigeria needed to put its sectors on the path of growth and in the right perspectives.

The LP National Chairman, Dr Mike Omotosho, said, “This is a time of reflection, a time to look back and think upon the values we fought for as a people.

Can we boldly say the fight and struggles have been worth it? This year’s focus should be a wake-up call to those who desire to take up places of leadership.”
