The Chief Executive Officer of Skyview Communications Company, Mr. Femi Lawson has said that insecurity, lack of insurance and finance are the major reasons the tourism sector in Nigeria is not attracting huge investment.
While speaking at the Tourism Innovation and Development Advantage (TIDA) pre-Conference media parley in Abeokuta yesterday, he said that some people have the perspective that Nigeria is not safe for tourism.
He however said that he does not agree with that because insecurity can be managed and that was why Halogen Security is partnering with them for the conference.
According to him lack of insurance has also been another major challenge in the industry.
On the issue of finance, Lawson said that; "they are people who have been hindered by finance from touring tourist centres in Nigeria. We came up with the initiative that financial institutions can pay for such people and it will be gradually removed from their salaries."
He disclosed that they came up with virtue tourism because it gives people the opportunity to view tourist areas in Nigeria in their homes or offices.
Lawson particularly revealed that Skyview Communications is partnering stakeholders, such as Travelnet Log, Avant Garde Tours, and Nigeria Tourism Awards, to develop the tourism potential of Nigeria.
The Skyview Communications boss posited that virtual tourism on the country would be unveiled at the TIDA Conference.
Lawson said, "Skyview Communications company will also introduce the Tourism Entrepreneur Development Academy (TEDA)."
