Africa.com in partnership with Sponge Media, are proud to announce
the launch of EveryDay MBA powered by Africa.com. EveryDay MBA is an SMS
subscription service that provides valuable lessons each day in
finance, marketing, online business, product and service, and general
management. The lessons are written by lecturers with a Harvard MBA.
A sample of the marketing curriculum is: “Want free publicity? Write a
letter to the editor of a newspaper on a topic related to your
business. If it’s not too much of a commercial, they may publish it.”
An
example of the finance lessons is “If you can’t get funding from a
bank, can you turn your suppliers into lenders? Ask if they’ll give you
terms, to let you pay them after your customer pays you.”
“We are proud to present EveryDay MBA to the Nigerian market. Not
everyone can get an MBA from a top business school. With EveryDay MBA,
anyone with a mobile phone and N50 per week can gain access to valuable
lessons in business administration which will help them run their
business more profitably,” says Dayo Elegbe, the [CEO] of Sponge
Nigeria.

“EveryDay MBA helps small business owners in Nigeria access world
class tips about running businesses successfully. The lessons are short
and pithy, and very useful. We are planning to support the lessons with a
Twitter discussion so that entrepreneurs can ask questions and share
their own experiences on the topics,” said Teresa Clarke, Chairman and
Executive Editor of Africa.com. Ms. Clarke earned an MBA from Harvard
Business School, and personally edits all of the content presented in
EveryDay MBA.
“To sign up for the service, simply text “MBA” to 5031 on the MTN
Network,” said Dayo, who put together the service between MTN and
Africa.com. He went on to say, “A new valuable lesson will be sent via
SMS five days per week, at an affordable cost of N50 per week. The
curriculum is structured as follows: Monday – Marketing, Tuesday –
Product/Service, Wednesday – General Management, Thursday – Online
Business and Friday – Finance.”
Africa.com and Sponge Media expect EveryDay MBA to have a positive
impact on the productivity and profitabililty of small businesses in
Nigeria.
