The
Executive Governor of Enugu State, His Excellency, Rt. Hon Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi has
pledged the support of the government and people of Enugu State to Nigerian
Breweries Plc.
The governor made this pledge when he visited the company’s Ama
Brewery on Thursday in the company of his Deputy, Her Excellency, Hon. Cecilia
Ezeilo, Speaker of the Enugu State House of Assembly, Hon. Edward Uchenna Ubosi
and other members of the state cabinet.
Speaking
during the visit, Governor Ugwuanyi said Ama Brewery plays a lead role in the
economic and social wellbeing of the state: “Ama Brewery is a symbol of
economic, social and infrastructural prosperity of our beloved Enugu State. It
is critical to the industrial development of our state because of the countless
jobs it provides and supports and the remittances it makes to government. Enugu
State is also a beneficiary of your numerous CSR interventions which provide a
better life for our people.” He said.
The
governor expressed his delight at the prospects of engaging the management of
the company to discuss areas of similar interests and to proactively manage
concerns to ensure smooth operations for Nigerian Breweries in the state. “Let
me assure you that the government and good people of Enugu State is solidly
behind you. We pledge our commitment to the growth of this company which
translates to the growth and development of our state and people”
Also,
the Brewery Manager, Mrs Ethel Emma-Uche delivered a presentation on the
brewery to the governor, showcasing the world class facilities and operations
within the brewery. She led the visitors on a tour of the facilities after
which the governor planted a commemorative tree.
The
visit also provided an opportunity for the governor to commission an
ultra-modern town hall donated by the company to its immediate host community,
Umuezeani.
